Some big names like Austin Ekeler and Nick Chubb will be missing time and below are some players to try and target as placements. Also first week with non Covid byes.
Waiver Running Backs:
D’Ernest Johnson (CLE) – With Nick Chubb out for several weeks, Johnson will be in line for some carries. He had 13 for 95 this past weekend but the Browns were winning for the majority of the game. Kareem Hunt, who has been primarily used in the receiving game, still got 11 carries.
Joshua Kelley/Justin Jackson (LAC) – Austin Ekeler pulled his hamstring and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Kelley will be the primary back and has looked good even with Ekeler around. He also will have more opportunities in the passing game since that was Ekeler’s main job.
Chase Edmonds (ARI) – Kenyan Drake continues to disappoint this season. He had 13 carries for 35 yards against a Carolina run defense who was exposed in multiple games this year. Chase Edmonds also got the majority of the targets out of the backfield including a receiving touchdown. Try to grab Edmonds as Drake might be benched soon. And even if not, Edmonds seems to be in a Kareem Hunt role for Arizona.
Waiver Wide Receivers:
Scotty Miller (TB) – Scotty Miller was the main beneficiary of Chris Godwin’s absence. He had 5 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. I do not believe Chris Godwin will be back anytime soon, so Miller will look to get plenty of targets in a pass happy offense with one of the greatest quarterbacks.
Tee Higgins (CIN) – This was another week that Tee Higgins was productive for the Bengals. He finished the gamse with 7 targets, second behind only Tyler Boyd’s 8. Joe Burrows has thrown for over 300 yards in three straight games. While this past weekend the Bengals were winning, most of the time they will be down. If Higgins continues to be Burrow’s second favorite target, he could be a potential flex play especially with bye weeks coming up.
